For auction is my Browns hydraulic tractor mounted log splitter. It runs off the tractor hydraulics.
I have had this for 18 years and it has served me very well. It is only for sale as I have upgraded to a road towable one.
It comes with a sharp genuine Browns spare splitter head. I do still have the little bracket that bolts on around the control lever, that makes it impractical to use with one hand only. I also have the tall vertical guard panelI took off, as it seemed to serve no real purpose, and stopped me fitting large rings on the base.
I have run it on both a Fordson Power Major, and a Kubota STV40. Both of these provided adequate hydraulic flow and pressure.
The ram does not leak, and has never needed resealing.
A few years ago the RSJ that forms its backbone got a bit twisted due to a very nasty 3 way Sycamore crotch, combined with a little sideways slop in the mounting of the splitter head to the RSJ, and me not reacting quickly enough to release the lever.
I had a new RSJ professionally welded in, and it has worked fine since this repair.
I will demonstrate this working to the winning bidder. I have plenty of timber for this.
