A 4 foot finishing mower, Woods RM48, to fit a Cat 1 3 point linkage. It’s fine for tractors in 15 – 30hp range. This is in good solid condition and has had extensive new steel in the past to the deck BUT one spindle has a stripped thread so only 2 of the 3 blades are fitted. Also one of the front wheels (which are a later addition to aid moving around) is loose.
This design uses just one belt to drive all 3 blades. There is a belt included which is about 1/2 way through it’s life and should be fine for quite a bit more work. It also only includes half a PTO shaft – it takes the fairly standard lemon shaped shaft. See last pic.
This mower was originally designed for a reverse rotation PTO, but I’ve not had any problems running it in standard direction. The two remaining blades are fitted with loctite and have never come loose.
The mower works well for topping or finishing work and gives a good quality of cut when all 3 blades are on! It may be possible to repair the shaft or fit a replacement.
